In October 2022 we launched our Way Forward Appeal to fundraise £1.6 million to support our urgent and emergency care services at the Great Western Hospital.

The appeal has already seen the creation of a new Urgent Treatment Centre and a new environmentally friendly energy centre powering the UTC and the new Emergency Department due to open in July 2024. 

The new centres will help us to create a hospital environment suitable for Swindon's growing and ageing population, now and well into the future. 

As ever, Brighter Futures are fundraising for the extra touches that improve the experience for our patients. We still need funds for new equipment and to enhance the faclities for the community who use them.

The next phase of fundraising will support the developments in the Emergency Department, funding items such as a diagnostic mobile x-ray, a paediatric ventilator, a sky ceiling for the emergency children's room, a relatives suite, resuscitation room divider mobile storage walls and sensory items.

All of these fundraising projects aim to create welcoming and calm environment which meet the needs of all our patients, reducing anxiety and supporting patient dignity.
